dc: Given that the administration is built around a few simple ideas: corporations, owners and top managers, and strong national security. Called free arkets, it is realy concetration of power and capital i the same ands. Democracy and the media create the glue that justifies the whole. This view is so self serving and so narrow, it canot be convincing to a thinking world. The success of elites at the expense of its own people (growing disparity in the US and world) is destructve.

Given this, the administration cannot be persuasive about Iraq.

quoting

The United Nations Charter charges the Security Council with the task of preserving international peace and security. To do so, the Security Council must maintain its credibility by ensuring full compliance with its resolutions. We cannot allow a dictator to systematically violate those Resolutions. If they are not complied with, the Security Council will lose its credibility and world peace will suffer as a result.
We are confident that the Security Council will face up to its responsibilities.
